\ \ [17] A concatenation is literally a ‘chain’ of events or occurrences. It is a derivative of the seldom-encountered verb concatenate [16], which comes from Latin concatēnārechain together, link’, a compound verb formed from the prefix com- ‘together’ and catēnachain’ (source of English chain).
